In September of 2019 I was hired by Sul Ross State University to be the Art Director for The Skyline magazine during their relaunch to an online exclusive newspaper. I create art work for articles, guide students with photography (suggested subject angles and cropping), guide in the social media upkeep and guide students with maintaining the website.
The first thing I was tasked to do was create a brand so to speak, so I started with ideas for a logo. I researched from when The Skyline was a weekly printed newspaper on campus and wanted to stay true to the basics with an older font (pictured below on the left). On the right of the photo was a more modern stylized font that incorporates the paw print of a wolf related to the university mascot.
Below are the two logos that the department ultimately wanted to go with because they couldn't decide which one they liked more.
Below is the social media profile photos that I created for the Student Publications pages.
