I was hired on by Sul Ross State University as the Layout and Design Editor for The Sage Magazine. The Sage is a yearly art magazine designed by students that comes out once a year.
I was tasked with gathering the art from the Art Department, designing the cover of the magazine, creating posters for submissions, and putting the magazine together with Adobe InDesign.
The logo was the first design I worked on to get a feel for what direction I wanted to go for.
For the Call for Literature and Call for Art posters I chose to go with a simple and straight forward design. These posters were going to be put up around the University on peg boards, so I chose minimal information.
While these posters were approved they didn't garnish much attention for submissions of either art of literature.
The cover of the magazine was designed by me; I was given free rein to do as I please and this is what I went for. It is a illustration of The Window from Big Bend National Park.
Towards the end it was time to layout the magazine. The challenges I faced while doing this was putting poetry and literature together that made sense as well as selecting which art would make the final cut.
